Reaction to rule controversy in Patriots' loss to Jets Live

The Patriots lost to the Jets, 30-27, on Sunday after the Jets got a second chance at a game-winning field goal because of a new NFL rule.

The Patriots were flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct on a Jets field goal attempt in overtime. Defensive lineman Chris Jones was deemed to have pushed a teammate into the line of scrimmage, a point of emphasis this season although it was the first time the penalty was called.

Here's a look at reaction to the rule from a variety of sources on Twitter.

Mike Pereira is a rules expert for Fox Sports and a former vice president of officiating for the NFL.

Reporters Ben Volin and Mike Reiss caught up with Jones after the game.

Patriots fans were upset, naturally. Actor Michael Chiklis is a Massachusetts native and Boston sports fan.

Cardinals kicker Jay Feely was vocal about the new rule being enforced, and apparently heard from fans of both teams over it.
