Patriots at Texans live updates

Zuri Berry has updates from Houston as the Patriots face the Texans. Discuss the game with Obnoxious Boston fan in the panel on right.

Stephen Gostkowski kicked two 53-yard field goals to help the Patriots tie and then surpass the Houston Texans, 34-31.

The Patriots defense held on, stopping the Texans on third and fourth downs to force a turnover on downs with 1:59 left in the game, moving on to 9-3 on the season.

The Texans are now 2-10, losers of 10 straight games.

Houston had taken the lead after Case Keenum deep pass to DeAndre Hopkins over Kyle Arrington for a  66-yard gain, followed by a Ben Tate 10-yard touchdown run with 11:35 left. But then Gostkowski added his two field goals.

Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount ran in a 7-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. He was the team's leading rusher with 44 yards on 12 carries after the Patriots elected to sit Stevan Ridley.

In the third quarter, Keenum took one score in all by himself, breaking out to the left on 5-yard quarterback keeper untouched.

Also in the third quarter, Tom Brady hit Shane Vereen for a 9-yard touchdown and Patriots fullback James Develin kept his legs churning to plow his way to a 1-yard touchdown.

In the first half, Houston running back Ben Tate scored his second touchdown of the day, a 20-yard jaunt to the end zone -- juking Patriots safety Devin McCourty on the way -- as the Texans took a 17-7 lead in the second quarter.

Tate ran in an 8-yard touchdown in the first quarter, followed by 43-yard field goal by Randy Bullock as Houston jumped to a 10-0 lead before the Patriots finally responded.

Brady connected with tight end Rob Gronkowski with 1:25 left in the first for a 23-yard touchdown.
