Div. 6 Final: Littleton 52, Cohasset 35
It was all smiles for the Littleton football team on Saturday,as they rode their hot offense to a resounding win over Cohasset, 52-35, to take the MIAA Division 6 Super Bowl at Gillette Stadium.
This was Littleton’s first state championship in three appearances. Senior running back Travis Bassett rushed for 263 yards and four touchdowns to lead Littleton, while quarterback Alex McLaughlin threw for 147 yards and one touchdown, adding 78 yards rushing and another score.
Littleton jumped to a 30-6 lead in the first half but Cohasset came back with two touchdowns to make it a 30-20 game going into the second half. Cohasset could not make up the deficit, however, as Littleton’s three second-half touchdowns were too much for Cohasset to handle.
Cohasset quarterback Chris Haggerty threw for 207 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions, but ran for 58 yards and three scores.
Cohasset tried one last desperation play with a little less than 1:30 to play in the fourth quarter, but McLaughlin picked off a pass from Haggerty to seal the title for Littleton.
Littleton totaled 505 yards on the day, with 358 of those yards on the ground. Cohasset gained 411total yards, including 237 through the air.
