At my workplace, vacation days and sick days are lumped together as just "days off", and the number is very small for the year. Colleagues will drag themselves in to work very sick and very contagious to avoid using up these "days off". As a result, the illnesses spread around, productivity goes way down, and people are miserable. Don't blame the workers, blame the workplace environment!
