Live blog: Earthquake in Maine felt in Boston area.

A 4.0 magnitude earthquake struck Maine about 20 miles west of Portland tonight and was felt as far south as Boston, according to the US Geological Survey.

    In Meredith NH on Lake Waukewan...I knew it wasn't the generator coming on. Been a windy day, but this REALLY shook the house.

    Felt it in Northampton, MA as a big jolt and then the house swayed for a second. A couple of spent decades in California made me recognize it instantly but I knew it was pretty far away.

    Yes, I felt it in Malden at 7:12 pm. The windows of rattled and the entire 12 storied building shook for 7-8 seconds

    Here in Shapleigh, Maine it felt like our house was exploding! It shook for approx. 15 seconds. My husband and I thought our furnace had exploded! Needless to say, we were both very scared! We went outside and we could hear the rumbling for about 2 minutes.
